Jody Steidel holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Music Education from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, and a Masters of Education in General Education from Elmira College in Elmira, NY. She grew up actively involved in the United Methodist Church as the daughter of a New England Conference pastor, and has been participating in church music for as long as she can remember—playing trumpet, singing in chancel choirs, and participating in handbell and sacred dance ensembles.
While pursuing her masters degree, Jody was a member of the Horseheads United Methodist Church in Horseheads, NY, where she served as director of the children’s and handbell choirs, and was the music leader for the church, Vacation Bible School. Upon returning to her home state of Maine, Jody accepted a position teaching elementary general music in Auburn to students in grades K-6.
Jody and her family have been attending Calvary United Methodist church ever since moving to Lewiston in 2011. They immediately fell in love with the church, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and its dedication to mission and social justice. Jody is thrilled to be serving as music director and embraces this opportunity to combine her love of music and her passion for ministry.
